WESTERN BUREAU:
FORMER CHAMPIONS Munro College staked a serious claim to retaining their Boys Western track and field championship title after taking the lead after 10 finals during yesterday's eliminations held at Herbert Morrison Technical.
The meet is being held over two days with the finals along with the girls' set for next Tuesday at Cornwall College.
The Girls' eliminations will be held at St. Elizabeth Technical tomorrow, starting at 9:30 a.m. and 18 schools led by the hosts, who are the defending champions, will take part.
Munro piled up 74 points yesterday, nine more than second-placed Mannings with defending champions Cornwall College in third on 61 with Herbert Morrison Technical (49) and Grange Hill (29) rounding out the top five.

Cedric Titus' Fitzroy Johnson created the biggest upset of the day when he won the 5,000m, sprinting away from the field over the last 150m, beating STETHS' Rohan Dennis into second place and favourite Paulton Humes of Grange Hill third.
