ONE year after the world's largest nude wedding at Hedonism III, Runaway Bay, St. Ann, the couples were out again, 11 this time and, yes you've guessed it - in the buff!
Six couples "renude" their vows, the others were wedded.
It was a picture of paradise with the brides-to-be adorned with beautiful lavender and white orchid crowns and matching bouquets. Body paints and glitter "clothed" some, while others said "I do" in barely-there thongs. There was a transparent gown with matching veil and there were comments that it was elegant.
In a short and happy ceremony, the Reverend Frank Cervasio joined and rejoined couples. This year's nude wedding was not riddled with the controversy of last year's. And, although there were persons who publicly condemned it, there was not much fuss over the nude nuptials perhaps because this year's event was not highly publicised.
Buck and Kris Jackson, who were married last year, renewed their vows and said the past year has been the best year of their lives.
One thing was for sure the brides weren't blushing and they seemed comfortable in their skin. There were a few laughs along the way and one groom seemed to have been a little bit too happy he was engorged throughout the ceremony. When Rev. Cervasio said they could kiss, one of the brides yelled, "Is that all we can do?" Of course, this was met with much laughter.
But this wedding was no joke! According to the Reverend, people make their commitment in different ways and he thinks "it is very spiritual". He told The Sunday Gleaner that clothing seeks to segregate while nudity breaks down the barriers. "This is as close to paradise as we'll get. When we're naked, we are all God's children." He added that with the nude wedding "there is no worry about caterers, dresses, reception hall and who sits beside whom," he said.
Plus, it's cheap!
"Why do you hide yourself?" he asked. He said it was man who was embarrassed and covered himself in the Garden of Eden. And speaking of Eden, there was a couple by the name of Adam and Eve Bryan who were married for 10 years and were renewing their vows - go figure!
Reverend Cervasio said it is sad for people to view nakedness as nastiness. "God did not create nastiness, we shouldn't be embarrassed and we shouldn't turn it into something dirty." He stressed that the wedding was for the individual couples and not for the group!
Marianne, the Reverend's wife, said she supports him 100 per cent. They have been married for 20 years and are naturists who enjoy sun-bathing in the nude. She told The Sunday Gleaner, they will renew their vows in the buff.
