Delays for bus routes

THE TEMPORARY closure of some roads in the Corporate Area to facilitate the Queen's visit will affect a number of Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus routes today and tomorrow.

Between 10:00 a.m. and 11:15 this morning, buses which travel along Lady Musgrave Avenue, Tom Redcam Drive, Marescaux Road, Heroes Circle and Duke Street will be delayed while the Royal Motorcade passes. When the Royal party leaves Gordon House, commuters on JUTC buses along Torrington Road, Slipe Pen Road, Brentford Road, Lyndhurst Road to Greenwich Park Road should expect delays as these roads will be closed. The motorcade will travel to the British High Commission on Trafalgar Road between noon and 1:00 p.m. causing delays to buses plying the Old Hope Road, Lady Musgrave Road, and Trafalgar Road routes.

JUTC buses travelling between Half-Way Tree and Papine will also be affected between 11:15 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. as the Duke of Edinburgh visits The University of Technology on Old Hope Road and the Jamaica Environmental Trust on Waterloo Road.

Between 3:30 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon JUTC route 76 will be affected as Lady Musgrave Road will be closed to facilitate a visit by the royal party to Vale Royal.

On Wednesday morning several bus routes will be affected as the motorcade makes its way from Kings House at 10:00 a.m. along Lady Musgrave, Old Hope Road, Tom Redcam Drive, South Camp Road, Michael Manley Boulevard, Rockfort Road, Norman Manley Highway to the Norman Manley Airport.

It is anticipated that most of the delays will be brief and alternative routes will only be utilised as directed by the police.
