Scandals and the JLP's record

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IN LISTENING to the president of the NDM Hyacinth Bennett on Breakfast Club and with Perkins Online this week, I felt it necessary to point out to Ms. Bennett, that scandals that have occurred under the People's National Party such as Operation PRIDE, NetServ, Furniture, Zinc etc., did not occur under the governance of the JLP in the 1980s.

In the NDM's haste to be seen as the 'good guy' Ms. Bennett is attempting to lump the Jamaica Labour Party into the same barrel as the People's National Party. In calling both Party's 'tribes' and in saying that there is not much difference between the two of us, she implies that one is as bad as the other.

Nothing could be further from the truth, I would implore Ms. Bennett to check her facts. It seems that Ms. Bennett either wants the two parties to look bad for her own political gain, or that she is not aware of the real growth, real employment, real discipline and real lack of scandal under the Jamaica Labour Party.

I am etc.,
