An exhibition sparked personal interest

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I found the article on the Great Exhibition of 1891 rather informative and interesting. Wonderful things did happen in Jamaica.

I had a personal interest in the Exhibition for I have in my possession a crystal mug which my grandmother purchased at that event. It was not one of the souvenirs as the date was not on it, but it has her name etched with a pattern and 'Remember Me.' Perhaps one of the exhibitors had this done when purchased as a gift to her from my grandfather.

Although the date is not there I know it was from the Exhibition and the article brought it back to life for she told us as children of this wonderful event.

Please continue to share with us our history.

I am, etc.,
