SUSPENDED Jamaican batsman Ricardo Powell yesterday gave the selectors something to think about ahead of the fifth round Busta Cup match against Trinidad and Tobago which starts on Friday.
Powell axed from the Jamaican squad for disciplinary reason hit an attacking 150 to share the spotlight with Kerry Scott, who had match haul of eight wickets as Kingston took first innings from Kensington in their Surrey Senior Cup match which ended in a draw at Sabina Park.
The hard-hitting Powell, who was scoring his first century for his club this year set the foundation as the home team secured a first innings lead of 145 before declaring at 281 for five.
Final scores in the two-day match, Kensington 136 and 225 for three, Kingston 281 for five declared.
Kingston started the day on 165 for one with Powell and opening batsman Shane Brooks at the crease. The overnight batsmen took the score to 214 before Brooks misjudged a straight delivery from Kamal Dennis and was bowled for 73 after adding 10 to his overnight score.
The day belonged to Powell, who batted with a lot of determination and confidence during his 220 minutes stay at the crease. He struck 16 fours and one six from the 138 deliveries he faced before he was caught at long on by Maurice Kepple off pacer Dennis.
AT NELSON OVAL: Maurice Clarke scored 120 to lead Lucas to crushing innings an 89 runs over Tivoli.
Scores: Tivoli 50 (Shawn Christian 12 not out; Dwayne Watson 5-30, Delroy Morgan 3-10, Norman Bernard 2-8) and 97 (Omar Hamilton 26, Shaniel Francis 20; Bernard 4-37, Kerome Lewis 3-15). Lucas 236 for seven declared (Clarke 120, Ryan Smith 29, Morgan 28; Tafari Williams and Ralston Bell ended with three wickets each).
AT MELBOURNE: The Melbourne and Boys' Town game ended in a no result in their Surrey Senior Cup game because of rain. Scores: Boys' Town 356 for seven declared (Alex Ranger 116, Omar A. Campbell 89, Shane Powell 31; Nikita Miller 2-44, Roman Hutchinson 2-66). Melbourne 262 for six (Aubrey Wallaston 82, Llewellyn Meggs 63, Fitzroy Peterkin 40; Phillip Keating 4-73).
AT ALPART: St. Elizabeth led by 150 from Shawn Findley secured first innings points over Trelawny in their Cornwall Senior Cup match.
Scores: St. Elizabeth 300 for four declared (Findley 150, Kenroy Williams 68, Keron Baker 33 and Lincoln Brown 18; Lorenzo Ingram 2-76). Trelawny 172 (Cartlon Johnson 62 not out, Godfred Lewis 22, Ingram 18; Baker 4-51, Ainsley Gosss 2-18, Clive Banton 2-17) and forced to follow-on reached 1-1.
AT ELGIN TOWN: Hanover took first innings points from St. James in a low scoring match. The final day of their Cornwall Senior Cup game was rained out.
