Disgusted at UWI's greed

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM ashamed and saddened about the behaviour of the management of the University of the West Indies, Mona. While we were mourning the loss of a true Jamaican Ambassador, Leighton (Dickie) Coke, UWI management was trying to milk the last dollar from the mourners.

Can you imagine after leaving the chapel, we found that car wheels had been clamped for parking on the grass, and to add further shame they were charging $500 to get them removed.

Why did they not ask for a part of the collected sum if they are that desperate for cash? Crime starts when greed begins.

Approximately 90 per cent of the large gathering showed disgust at the behaviour and we are contemplating a lawsuit.

Thanks to Colonel Leslie Lloyd, although he was also caught in the shame, he was able to assist me in retrieving my car.

I am, etc.,
