First, the Government, through Dr. Omar Davies, the Finance and Planning Minister, promised in true pre-election mode, that there would be no new taxes in the Budget to be presented in April.

Prime Minister P. J. Patterson assures us that our debt crisis is not as bad as Argen-tina's, and a JLP Government is no less scandalous than a PNP one. Wrong on both counts.
