THE EDITOR, Sir:
Through this medium I wish to express my sheer delight for the articles by Louis Marriott appearing in The Sunday Gleaner for some 18 weeks.
I wish to thank the Gleaner Company for the opportunity afforded Mr. Marriott and to commend him for reminding those of us who grew up like him during that period of the life we once enjoyed and thereby also giving information to the younger generation. (I do hope they are reading the articles).
It is a generous and useful action on the part of The Sunday Gleaner which usually offers information for education to the general public as well as to entertain, as is evidenced by the Tony Hendriks' column. The piece in the Sunday, March 24 issue was a stroke of genius. I enjoyed it extremely having been to Paris in 1967 so I have first-hand knowledge of what he tried to portray in his inimical way.
It was a scream.
I continue to be edified by Ian Boyne's offerings each week and I usually phone him to comment.
I continue to be amazed by Dawn Ritch's forthright articles from which I also learn a great deal and I do communicate with her occasionally.
I also enjoy the reminiscences by Hartley Neita, as I know many of the persons he mentions from time to time.
I am, etc.,
D.A. BENT
