DC narrowly escapes death in attack

A DISTRICT constable from the Constant police station, north St. Andrew, narrowly escaped death on Tuesday when two men attacked him at his home and stabbed him several times.

DC Andrew Dennis was asleep at his home in Meadowbrook Estate, St. Andrew, when two men, one with a handgun and the other with a knife, cut grill bars at the back of the house and went in on him.

The Constabulary Communication Network said when his attackers went to the room where he was sleeping, he jumped out of his sleep and found himself staring into the barrel of a pistol.

DC Dennis grabbed the gun and during a tussle for it, the knifeman stabbed him in the back several times. However, he managed to grab his gun and fire a shot at his attackers, but one hit him from behind and his gun fell.

He eluded his attackers and they ran from the house with his firearm.

He was later treated at hospital.
