NEW ZEALAND captain Stephen Fleming said his team was full of confidence going into its five one-day international games against the West Indies starting at Sabina Park next Wednesday.
The New Zealand team, which arrived in the island on Wednesday night, will also play a two-match Test series against the hosts set to start on June 21 at Kensington Oval, Barbados.
"We have been looking forward to coming here for a long time, we are very motivated to do well," Fleming said yesterday.
There are three players in the Kiwi camp with injury concerns but the captain said they were all okay and ready to play the full series. The players are Shane Bond (foot), Nathan Astle (knee) and Jacob Oram (side strain).
Fleming said after the team's trip to Pakistan was called off, they got extra time to come in earlier than expected and get acclimatised to the conditions.
"We watched them (West Indies) during their Test series against India from Pakistan. It was very good to be able see the new players in the West Indies team and to see the changes, so that was very good for our planning," he said.
"The West Indies are full of confidence. We saw it in the last two Tests (against India) and Carl Hooper seems to be in good form as well, so if the skipper plays well that always help the team, Fleming said.
"We have to play consistently good cricket and we are confident on doing that. We have got a good young squad ... we will be trying to play good consistent cricket and try to dominate a West Indies side which is full of confidence as well. It will be a good series."
