Last Wednesday, the German Ambassador to Jamaica, Dr. Christian Hausmann, and wife, Harriet Huber, entertained friends in their recently-refurbished house in Jacks Hill, St Andrew.
A beaming Ms. Huber proudly showed guests the property, explaining what was replaced and the work done on the tiles, roof and kitchen. Her favourite part of the house, she said, is the gazebo, surrounded by trees and flowers. She calls the gazebo her 'master piece' and credits contractor, Colville Bowman. Mr. Bowman said the gazebo was the icing on the cake. A pool completes the picture.
The living room is adorned with white orchids, and Ms. Huber explains the beauty and her love for these and the numerous hummingbirds and parrots that frequent the property.
Dr. Hausmann calls the 'library' his favourite spot. He says he loves to sit there at around six in the morning, read the paper and watch the light comes into the house as the sun rises. "I'm very pleased with the architect and contractor," he said. "They did a fine job."
