Juniors get ready for Cayman mission

JAMAICA'S JUNIOR golf team will leave the island on Sunday for the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships (CAJGC) at the Links Golf Club in the Cayman Islands.

Constant Spring's Robert Rose and Damion Spencer of Caymanas, who impressed at the National Trials, will lead the charge in the Boys 16-18 section while South Carolina-based Martina MooYoung and Runaway Bay's Lisandra Brown will be that age group's female representatives.

The Runaway Bay golf programme is obviously bearing fruit as its students are sprinkled through the lower age groups.

Shakaroah Miller (Girls 13-15), Xavier Brown (Boys 12 and under) and Shaneil McLeod (Girls 12 and under) have all made the team while SuperClubs Runaway Bay's Willis Whyte and Adrian Clemetson will compete in the individual section.

The rest of the team comprises Constant Spring's Sean Green and Matthew Lee in the Boys' 13-15 grouping, the rapidly improving Tiffany Terrier (Caymanas, Girls 13-15), Adrian Bradford (Constant Spring, Boys 12 and under) and Constant Spring's Isabelle Marley (Girls 12 and under).

Livingston Williams, the professional at Constant Spring, will coach the team which will be managed by Larry Bailey and chaperoned by Leiza Blakeley.

The tournament runs from July 7-13.
