THE EDITOR, Sir:
I heard on Breakfast Club this morning (July 5) some of the discussions with Senior Supt. Reneto Adams on July 4 and discussions with Mr. Bunny (Witter, I believe) which when added to what Mr. Paul Burke is alleged to have said as quoted in the newspapers, I am left to wonder whether or not anarchy is being promoted and by whom. I am very worried about the continuing Rule of Law and the ability of our security forces to protect all the citizens of Jamaica.
I would also like to point out that the security forces, especially the police, are employed and sworn to "Protect and Serve" ALL Jamaicans. All Jamaicans must be treated with respect by each of us and especially by those who are in uniform, acting on behalf of the State and who are sworn to "Protect and Serve".
At the same time, the state must provide the resources for them to do their job effectively. They must have proper training, proper forensic and other equipment, proper accommodation, proper terms of service and very importantly proper detention/jails to keep in those who are arrested.
Our society must also be provided with a judicial system that works effectively and quickly so that justice can be provided swiftly.
I am, etc.,
