Supreme Ventures parties Las Vegas style

THERE WAS nothing low-keyed or apologetic about Supreme Ventures' first anniversary party on Saturday, June 29, at the Caymanas Golf & County Club. On arriving we were greeted by traffic wardens and directed to designated parking and a shuttle service. With the bright lights and glitter of Las Vegas the venue was beautifully decorated by Dawn Leyow and Carl Hart and the Supreme Vegas Hostesses, in mask and all, welcomed guests and invited them to take an anniversary picture, complete with frame and the company's logo. It was their way of making sure guests would not forget the event.

Not a chance.

It would appear that anyone who received an invitation made it a must-go. Vice president, Roger Williams, said the party was the company's way to celebrate with and thank its many supporters and to "let your hair down and have fun". Ladies were fashionably dressed and politicians and businessmen rubbed shoulders, mingled and shared in the success of the one-year-old company.

And successful it has been. The company's chairman, Peter Stewart, spoke proudly of the achievements over the year and said they were able to provide the "Games people love to play...and more". He said in the year, over one million persons won the Lucky Five Jackpot with a payout of $300 million and 4.3 million Cash Pot winners received $4.5 billion in payout money. A percentage of the daily sales, Mr. Stewart disclosed, assists in early childhood education and health care through a special fund, Good Causes Fund.

Colin Lucas, who flew in from Trinidad for the event, had the crowd rocking to old favourites like "Dollar Wine" and the Supreme Las Vegas Show Girl dancers were popular. The Unique Vision Band was in its usual fine form and kept the music and the mood flowing. Public relations and marketing manager, Suzette Smellie-Tomlinson and Keith Binns of Island Life maintained the party vibe and got guests involved.

And so was the bar and the food - flowing, that is. Maxine Fontaine catered and did an excellent job - if one could judge by the number of times guests returned to barbecue, seafood and jerk counters. Of course, there was fruits for those so inclined. Janeth Senior's Sweet Sweet Supreme dessert counter was just as busy. Bartenders offered a drink for every taste.
