THE EDITOR, Sir:
I was appalled when on my way to work on July 17, 2002, I heard on the news that individuals were asking Josef Forstmayr, president of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA) to step down. It goes to the heart of what Dudley A. Brown was expressing in his letter to you concerning persons no longer wanting dialogue to resolve situations, but instead prefer to take the route of dismissal and resignation.
We need to 'check' ourselves as a society, whenever things don't go, as we would like we are quick to ask someone to resign. We have become a spiteful and hating people and it must end if we intend to 'progress.'
What would life be like if we all agreed? Life is so much more worth the living when we are able to hold our own opinions and still press forward.
For those persons out there who are intent on harbouring disunity "give it a rest." Instead let us "...press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Phil 3:14.
I am, etc.,
