Wolf in sheep's clothing

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WOULD like to inform Mr. Paulwell and Dr. Davies of exemptions being made with regard to the duty allowance given for computers and their accessories. Recently, a co-worker of mine went abroad, purchased a computer, with speakers, for a single price. Upon reaching Customs in Kingston, the contents of the computer's box were searched. The Customs officer then informed my co-worker that he would have to pay duty on the speakers; when he asked why, the Customs officer responded by telling him that, he (my co-worker) could possibly use the computer's speakers for something else, and so he would have to pay duty on them.

Isn't this absolute rubbish? How ridiculous are we going to get in this country? How often have you seen computer speakers being used with anything else but computers? In this country, the government is like a wolf in sheep's clothing. It is never as good as it seems.

I am etc,

Disgusted
