Poor coverage of C'wealth Games

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THOSE OF us who try to watch the highlights of the Commonwealth Games are asking? What Commonwealth Games highlights? Is there only one country in the Commonwealth, and only one country participating in these games?

When fourth place finishers have more coverage than silver medallists the network covering the games not only lacks sensitivity but presents a largely jaundiced (read semi-racist?) perspective, we know that the spirit of the Commonwealth is in trouble.

Fi wah? A dem one waan fi si fi dem athlete perform? Are there no human interest stories among the athletes of other countries.

Wi no waan no maple leaf, wi hab nuff mango leaf, and breadfruit leaf and....But then the real culprits are unlikely to read this, and they couldn't care less anyway. Do they really march to the dictates of advertisers? I doubt that.

Should we dump the Commonwealth and let them have their games to themselves? Whatever happened to fair and balanced coverage?

I am etc.,
