Probe under way into businessman's kidnapping

A TOP level investigation is now being conducted into Thursday evening's abduction of Reynold Scott, the manager of Geon Construction Limited, who was kidnapped by a group of men and a hefty ransom collected for his release.

While the police are tight-lipped about the incident, reports were that Mr. Scott was abducted from a construction site near Seymour Avenue, St. Andrew. The men demanded money and when their demands were not met, they kept driving around with Mr. Scott.

It is reported that he eventually called his wife at home, the kidnappers spoke with her and demanded a ransom. They went to the house and collected a large sum, which included about US$2,000.

Further allegations are that Mr. Scott was placed in the trunk of the vehicle and the men continued to drive him around. It is reported while in the Constant Spring area of St. Andrew, the car lost one of its tyres and at the same time ran out of petrol.

The men abandoned the vehicle, leaving Mr. Scott in the trunk of the car which was found yesterday morning. The Gleaner was unable to ascertain who released him from the trunk.
