Reverends should not be in politics

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT GIVES me great joy when I read in The Gleaner a few weeks ago when the police declared no surrender etc. When I see and hear the abject surrender all around in our society my soul grieves night and day. What grieves me most, Sir, the so-called churches also which was the last line of defence, they have lost faith in our Lord Jesus.

Just as when Moses went up in the mountain to get the commandments from God the people rose up and said to Aaron, make us a god etc. So Aaron surrendered to them and built the Golden Calf and they fell down and worshipped the golden image.

Our Lord has left us a while now and He promised if I go I will come again. He also told us hard times would come but they that endured to the end shall be saved. These are not the words of a politician. Politicians make impossible promises.

Therefore the big question why all these Reverends have surrendered the faith and gone into politics our Lord was never a politician and they who equate him with politics are doing a great dishonour to his name, God help us.

I am, etc.,
