'Keep up the struggle, JFJ'

THE EDITOR, Sir:

KINDLY PERMIT me to use this medium to congratulate the Jamaicans for Justice on winning the prestigious Weimar Human Rights Award for 2002 from the City of Weimar in Germany.

As a family member who has benefited from their intervention, I say to them, "keep up the STRUGGLE, although some people may have misunderstood your purpose". The challenges get greater everyday, but I am sure you will be encouraged when you reflect on your success, and the many broken hearts and lives which you have helped to mend. There are many family members in whom you have rekindled HOPE, so that as Jamaica celebrates its 40th year of independence, those individuals like other patriotic citizens of this country, can proudly sing;

"Jamaica we will always in honour of Thy name, work steadfastly and wisely and never bring you shame".

I am, etc.,
