A plea to the NWC

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM resorting to writing a public letter to the National Water Commission having made telephone calls on the matter months ago with regard to the criminal hazard created by the "forest" which lies to the rear of the Jamaica College compound and behind Ravinia Terrace, St. Andrew, due to the refusal of the NWC to bush their property on a timely basis.

I am a resident of Ravinia Terrace and was awakened by a criminal in my backyard in the wee hours of yesterday morning who used the heavily bushy area (NWC lands) behind the community as his vantage point to watch before pouncing and similarly as his escape.

This area between JC and Ravinia cannot be seen from the road and criminals are well aware of it. The National Water Commission remains insensitive about the issue.

NWC, please bush the area urgently! Not even the police could penetrate the dense forest now existent on your lands. I called them last night and they could not penetrate the thicket! However, at nights it is simply a walkway to the criminal hideout! The bush is a dark, dangerous, wild jungle once it becomes dark!

Please do something urgently! This situation is dangerous!

I remain,

Affected Resident
