FORMER ENGLAND star John Barnes says he doesn't know if he'll last the duration of this Sunday's Wray & Nephew Premier League All Stars football game featuring a local Legend Invitational side against a Liverpool Legends team but he is certainly looking forward to the encounter.
Jamaican-born Barnes arrived in the island last night along with his son, Jamie.
"We're all men over 35 and getting on a bit so I don't know how long we'll last. I just hope it's not too strenuous. I'm certainly looking forward to the match," he said.
The rest of the Liverpool team will arrive tomorrow, but Barnes said he came early to spend time with friends and family.
The match he says, "will also give me an opportunity to give something back to my country. This is where I got my start. This is where my roots are. I'm very happy to be back here".
The match will start at 5:00 p.m. at Sabina Park and will be preceded by a game between a Western All Stars team and an Eastern All Stars line-up at 3:30 p.m.
National technical director Carl Brown leads the local Legends team which includes Howard Bell, Chris Ziadie, Paul 'Tegat' Davis, Anthony Corbett, Durrent 'Tatty' Brown, Lenny Hyde and Peter Cargill while Barnes heads the Liverpool Legends.
