Harris lifts Heartease

By Deon Green, Freelance Writer

MORANT BAY:

A BLISTERING knock of 98 by Howard Harris and figures of five for 33 from Vincent Grey pushed Heartease to a convincing victory over Dalvey in the St. Thomas final of the Y.P. Seaton & Associates/ Caribbean Aggregates cricket competition at Goodyear Oval on August 25.

Scores in the game, Heartease 272 for eight off 40 overs, Dalvey 137 all out in 22 overs and four balls.

Electing to bat, Heartease piled up their mammoth total with Harris leading the way with nine sixes and four boundaries before he was caught off the bowling of Caswayne McDonald. Harris got good support from Fitzgerald Anderson 46 and Winston Purge 40. Bowling for Dalvey, Mario Beans three for 16, Oswaldo Brown two for 33, and Caswayne McDonald 2 for 52 were the main wicket takers.

With rain interrupting play, Dalvey were no match for their rivals, as wickets fell steadily. Only Henroy Campbell 47 and Collin Scott 27 offered any resistance against Kirk Thompson 3 for 34 and Grey's five-wicket haul.
