PM to present St. Catherine candidates

LINSTEAD, St. Catherine:

PRIME MINISTER P.J. Patterson will be presenting four of his party's candidates at a meeting at the Bog Walk square tomorrow.

The police said proper security arrangements are being put in place for it. However, they said they were not expecting any unusual behaviour from the large crowd which is likely to attend.

A news release from PNP headquarters listed the candidates as: Robert Pickersgill, St. Catherine North West, Minister of Transport and Works; K.D. Knight, St. Catherine East Central, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade; and Alethia Barker, St. Catherine West Central, all incumbent MPs, and Mrs. Phyllis Mitchell, St. Catherine North East.

Mrs. Mitchell won the seat in the December 1997 general election but was unseated on an election petition brought by the JLP's Abe Dabdoub, her challenger in the election, who was awarded the seat.
