Cost of free education

THE EDITOR, Sir:

YOUR EDITORIAL, "Education takes the spotlight," touched on probably the most fundamental aspect of this issue, the cost of free education. It will be rather interesting to see how Eddie Seaga or any other politician explains this concept.

Simply not paying a fee to attend any government-run school does not constitute "free education." I would like to think that Mr. Seaga will outline, in more detail, how he intends to go about this, should his party form the next govt.

As someone who attended high school in Ja in the 1970's, my enthusiasm for the concept soared in 1973 and just about died by the '76 elections.
