Pastor on carnal abuse charge

WESTERN BUREAU:

AN ADVENTIST pastor from St. James is to be put before the St. James Resident Magistrate's Court, Montego Bay, on Wednesday to answer charges of carnal abuse.

Conrad Spence, 36, minister of religion, of Bickersteth, St. James, was slapped with the charges after the Montego Bay police arrested him yesterday morning.

He is accused of having sexually molested a 15-year-old girl at various times from January to August this year.

The police say the girl had complained that whenever she refused his advances he would beat her.

The girl was taken to the Montego Bay police station in the Freeport area where a formal report was made, after which she was taken to a doctor.

The Montego Bay Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Unit, formerly known as the Rape Unit, is investigating the matter.
