Incompetence, negligence or spite

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM left with mixed feelings of astonishment, rage and overwhelming curiosity at your report that the Crown has finally withdrawn charges against Mr. John MacKay after 50 appearances by him in court.

Did no one review the evidence in this case? I shudder to think of the trauma visited on this dedicated teacher and his family by what appears to be a monumental example of incompetence, negligence or spite.

Our system of justice needs urgent overhauling.
