Unreasonable criticism of the US

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT AMAZES me that there should be so much disdain directed towards the USA especially from the Caribbean. If it was not for the US we would all be speaking German or Japanese, or have we forgotten?

Whenever there is a natural disaster in our region who gives the most aid? Who provides most of our citizens with a means to survival, what with tourism in our homeland and an opportunity to excel and be successful in the states? What has the Middle East contributed to the free world? Terrorism is what comes to mind. Which god tells you to kill those who do not share your views on religion? When Iraq invaded Kuwait where were all those who hate warmongers?

Everyone wants to shackle the USA but where is their voice when the Al Qaida's, Iraqs, and Irans are running amok? I suggest they look at history; if we had acted pre-emptively to stop Japan and Germany the world would be a better place.

I am etc.,
