Decent values versus political promises

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The political campaigns are in full flow. Is it too much to expect party leaders to use the opportunity to remind Jamaicans that self-discipline, improved family life, respect for law and the rule of law, hard work and frugality are important ingredients if Jamaica is to change for the better.

I suspect they won't and that the usual diet of handouts, promises and political slanging will continue in and after the election. Our politicians seem to think most Jamaicans want nothing more, they may be wrong.

I am, etc.,
