Garbaldi through to final

DUE TO persistent rain caused by tropical storm Lili, the seventh annual Securicor Amateur Doubles Tennis Classic finals scheduled for yesterday have been postponed until tomorrow at the Liguanea Club, starting at 5:00.

However, despite the threat from the storm, of Friday's semi-finals were completed and others finished yesterday at New Kingston club.

In the men's Open singles semi-finals, Eduardo Garbaldi defeated Kiyotaka Kawamoto 6-3, 6-3 to advance to tomorrow's final. Garbaldi will play Allan McNab, son of Ali McNab, who edged Andrew Ou 6-7, 7-6, 6-2 in the other semi.

In Class 3 doubles, Karl James and Orbin Williams combined to dismiss the challenge of Gregory Mayne and Wayne Ashley 6-2, 6-2. They will now play Carl Blisset and Lloyd Allen who defeated Ruddy Chin and Tony Marchand 6-3, 7-5 in yesterday's rescheduled semi-final.

The Class 2 doubles final match-up was decided on Friday with former national footballer Ali McNab and Kennett Lewis taking on Douglas Kong and Leo Davidson in the championship match-up.

Meanwhile, it should e a keen battle for the Ladies B title when Norma Lee-Davis and Audrey Marchand combine to tackle Ann Marie Burke and Lilly Kong.

Tomorrow's schedule: Ladies singles and men's Class 3 doubles at 5:00 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. men's Open singles and Class 2 doubles.
