AS A result of plans by the Jamaica Labour Party to stage a mass rally today, in Half-Way Tree Square, the Jamaica Urban Transit Co. says it will re-route its buses to circumvent that area.
Starting at 2 p.m., buses travelling down Constant Spring Road will be diverted on to West Kings House Road, Waterloo Road, Trafalgar Road, Holborn Road and Chelsea Avenue, resuming their regular route on Half-way Tree Road.
Routes 70, 70A and 75 which normally enter Half-way Tree Square from Papine, will turn left at Trafalgar Road and travel down Holborn Road, Chelsea Avenue, Balmoral Avenue and Maxfield Avenue to Hagley Park Road. On the return journey these buses will be re-routed onto Eastwood Park Road, West Kings House Road and Waterloo Road back to Hope Road.
All Portmore routes which terminate in Half-way Tree will be re-routed along Aldington Avenue, Montgomery Avenue and Maxfield Avenue to Hagley Park Plaza. Route 83 which originates in Half-way Tree will instead be diverted to Trafalgar Road, Holborn Road, Chelsea Avenue, Half-way Tree Road, Balmoral Avenue, Skibo Avenue and Cargill Avenue.
An advisory from the Police Traffic Division indicates that the various streets leading into Half-way Tree Square will be closed with effect from 2 p.m. today and all motorists should observe diversion signs and obey the instructions of the traffic police.
