Dinthill maintain perfect record

Paul A. Reid, Staff Reporter

WESTERN BUREAU:
DINTHILL TECHNICAL maintained their perfect record in the Pepsi/Sports Plus daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition after scoring a 2-1 win over Ewarton yesterday.

The Frank Brown-coached team won for the fourth straight game to remain the only side with a perfect win record after St. Thomas Technical were held to a 1-1 draw by Happy Grove in their Zone L match up.

Dinthill are still second in Zone J however as Charlemont beat Glengoffe 4-1 to stay ahead by a point, 13 to 12.

St. Thomas Technical, semi-finalists last season, and Happy Grove are still locked on points at the top of Zone L but St. Thomas Technical has a game in hand and also a better goal difference.

There were a number of surprise results yesterday including 3-0 wins for William Knibb and St. Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) over former champions and zone leaders Herbert Morrison Technical and Munro College respectively.

The Paul 'Tegat' Davis-coached William Knibb scored three times in a 15-minute span to stun Herbert Morrison and avenge their first round 4-0 spanking in Montego Bay.

Recardo Geddes in the 50th, Pablo Grey in the 55th and Delroy Elliss in the 70th were the scorers for William Knibb who moved into joint leadership of the zone with Herbert Morrison on 10 points.

Defending champions Cornwall College's struggles continued as they were held 0-0 by Muschett and are a point back. Cornwall are however expected to be awarded full points from their game against Anchovy on Wednesday after Anchovy offered to forfeit the points after it was discovered they had used an ineligible player.

In Santa Cruz, STETHS stunned the zone leaders, beating them for the first time in three seasons as Lovell Palmer, Brian Beckford and Kimar Smith scored in the first half.

In another Zone E game, Lacovia beat B.B. Coke 5-1.

Andre Clarke scored a hat-trick for Mannings School as they romped to a 7-0 win over Lewisville at the Black River Community Centre while Jamie Samuels also scored twice for the Dave Scott-coached team.

Albert Town broke their maiden for the season after they edged Mile Gully 1-0 in a Zone G encounter. Leaders Holmwood Technical maintained their slim lead over Spalding with a 3-0 win over Christiana to improve to 17 points while Spalding beat Alston 3-1 to stay a point back.
