Shillingford GREGORY SHILLINGFORD, former chief executive officer of the West Indies Cricket Board, has received a cheque from the Board as ex gratia payment.
The cheque was handed over on Friday to Shillingford who was dismissed from the position as CEO last Monday, September 30.
The value of the cheque has not been disclosed, but reports are that it is a six-figure amount in US dollars.
According to reports coming out of St. John's, Shillingford was involved in a two-day discussion with the solicitors of the Board, Lake and Kentish, working out the details of the payment that was made without prejudice on condition that Shillingford waived his rights to challenge the fairness of his termination in any court in Antigua and Barbuda, or elsewhere.
Shillingford was dismissed following an appraisal conducted on July 15, a meeting of the Board's review and assessment committee and the unanimous agreement of Board members.
Last Wednesday, two days after dismissal, Shillingford wrote to the Board indicating that the appraisal report presented to the Board on Friday, September 13, contained misrepresentations and allegations to which he did not have an opportunity to adequately respond.
The Gleaner's efforts to contact Shillingford yesterday re his letter to the Board and the conditions of the payment were unsuccessful.
