Minor earthquake felt in Portland

A MINOR earthquake was felt in Portland just before six o'clock yesterday evening.

According to a release from the Earthquake Unit at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, the earthquake was felt at 5.57 p.m.(EST/Local Time) near Vinegar Hill, Portland. The duration magnitude was estimated to be 3.4 and the focal depth 10 kilometres. The intensity report said that it was also felt in the New Kingston area.

There was a minor earthquake felt in the Forest Hill area of St. Andrew on Tuesday, October 8 at 10.27 p.m. with an estimated magnitude of 2.7.
