COUNCILLORS OF the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) have unanimously condemned the recent incidents of political violence in the Corporate Area and other regions.
At a recent Council meeting held at the KSAC's headquarters on Church Street in Downtown Kingston, the Councillors expressed their "extreme displeasure" at the violence.
Representatives from both the ruling People's National Party (PNP) and the Opposition Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) said they were united in calling for an end to the hostilities.
The Councillors also pledged their support for peaceful elections and called on supporters of all political parties to refrain from violent or anti-social behaviour in the days leading up to the election and afterwards.
They pointed to the unity which exists in the Kingston and St. Andrew Council, noting that this should serve as an example to the wider public. The Councillors also vowed to continue working to achieve the objective of national peace and unity.
