Evangelism conference under way

PLANS for the Conference on Evangelism and Missions hosted by the Jamaica Association Evangelical (JAE), are almost complete according to JAE officials. The conference is scheduled from October 30 to November 2, at the Boulevard Baptist Church in Kingston.

The opening session is being planned for Wednesday, October 30, between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m., while the main sessions will be between 9:30-11:00 a.m and again at 12:30 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Under the theme "Preaching Christ in a Broken World", the conference will emphasise the gift, calling and strategy of an evangelist.

Geared at equipping everyday Christians into contagious lifestyles, other topics include personal and friendship evangelism, becoming a contagious Christian; reaching the secular mind through Christian evidences; the local church's involvement in missions; and, effective evangelistic radio and television programmes.

Local speakers include Dr. Sam Vassell, Dr. Billy Hall; Blossom White; John Roomes; Nigel Wilkinson; Dwight Fletcher; and Errol Rattray while the international director, Dr. Jim Pluedemman, and Dr. Sam Vassel, now pastor at the Bronx Bethany Church of the Nazarene, will be guest speakers.

Other speakers expected are Evangelist Julius Creary; Rev. Peter Garth; Rev. Conrad Reid, Rev. Clinton Chisholm; Pastor David Henry; Dr. Raphael Thomas; Clyde Edwards; Las Newman; and Pat Eaves.

Registration is already in progress, and forms can be collected from the Errol Rattray Evangelistic Association office at Dunbarton Crescent, or at the head office of the Associated Gospel Asemblies, Dunrobin Avenue.
