Exam results withheld

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WOULD like the Ministry of Education to be aware that some high schools have not yet issued the last CXC results to some students.

I live in Kingston and I contributed the exam fee to a student of Seaforth High (my former school) to sit three CXC subjects.

To date the school is holding the result as the student has $1000 outstanding for school fee. The child's parent is unemployed. Her mother is very sick and cannot afford to pay this fee, so the school has decided to hold on to the child's 'future.'

I am ready to help the child again with some extra lessons but I am handicapped. I am now forced to support the principles of free education.

I am etc,

P. HENRY
