SAJ condemns election violence

AS JAMAICANS prepare to cast their ballots tomorrow, the Shipping Association of Jamaica has called for peace among all concerned and an elimination of the elements, which incite violence during this crucial time.

The Association has strongly condemned the "insidious growth of violence associated with the election" - an issue raised at the monthly Board meeting of the Association on October 7. The Directors of the Association urged political parties to clearly disassociate themselves from the election violence and to take control of their supporters.

The Association takes this opportunity to implore all well-thinking, and law abiding citizens to remain calm on election day and party supporters to not resort to, or incite violent behaviour which will further erode the country's dignity.
