TWO MORE schools will be seeking to secure places in the inter-zone round of the Pepsi/Sports Plus daCosta Cup competition today as action continues with three rescheduled games.
William Knibb Memorial and Little London will be playing for their inter-zone lives while last season's semi-finalists St. Thomas Technical will be hoping to move closer to securing a place from Zone L.
William Knibb are on 11 points and in third place in Zone A but a win today would take them past Herbert Morrison Technical, who are on 13 points, as both teams trail zone winners Cornwall College.
Anything but a win for William Knibb would see Herbert Morrison advancing to the inter-zone round for the first time in five seasons.
Today, the Paul 'Tegat' Davis-coached William Knibb cannot afford any more slip ups and must find the form that took them to three wins at home including a 3-0 demolition of Herbert Morrison.
Strikers Delroy Ellis and Recardo Geddes along with Pablo Grey and Oniel Graham must step up to the plate if they are to avoid tripping over the final hurdle.
Little London are in a similar position in Zone C, trailing leaders and qualifiers Mannings and Knockalva Technical and they must beat Lewisville.
Little London have fought back from the brink after losing three games in a row, beating Godfrey Stewart and drawing 0-0 against Knockalva at home on Monday but need to go one better today with a win.
They will start favourites against a Lewisville team that seems to have folded after conceding nine goals against Mannings on Monday and 26 during the season.
Knockalva, who scored their first win in the daCosta Cup competition this season on their way to three wins and an unbeaten road record, could continue their historic run if Little London fail to get by Lewisville.
St. Thomas Technical are in a three-way battle in Zone L with Seaforth and Happy Grove to a lesser extent.
Seaforth lead with 19 points after their 3-0 win over St. Thomas on Monday while St Thomas are in second place on 13 points with two games to go including their disrupted game against Happy Grove that was blown off on October 5.
St. Thomas could be awarded the points however and a win over Yallahs today could effectively end the contest with Happy Grove being the odd team out.
Twenty schools have already secured their place in the inter-zone round. They are: Cornwall College, Grange Hill, Rusea's, Mannings, Cedric Titus, Marcus Garvey, STETHS, Munro, Bellefield, Porus, Holmwood, Spalding, Garvey Maceo, Clarendon, Glenmuir, Old Harbour, Dinthill, Charlemont, Titchfield and St. Mary Technical.
