A better balance Parliament

THE EDITOR, Sir:

October 17, 2002, is one of the brightest days since Independence in our country's history.

Finally we have a Parliament that is better balanced.

If we can just get rid of the 'wimp factor' there could be real debate, and finally the opportunity for respect for the MPs and their constituents. The Labour Party will now finally have an opportunity to find its centre, with an expected early departure of its present loser leader.

Prime Minister Patterson has started out on the right foot, with an astute, conciliatory statement; he must now give those utterances meaning, and then we can really begin to build a better Jamaica.

I am etc.,
