Jamaica Gleaner Letters

Praising God loudly
THE EDITOR, Sir: REGARDING A recent letter to the editor about the noise at a Seventh-Day Adventist church, I find it amusing. Perhaps it is the very absence of noise coming from worshippers on Saturday or Sunday that is becoming a problem for Jamaica...

Seaga should go
THE EDITOR, Sir: WELL THE People's National Party have secured a fourth term in office and congratulations are due to them and their leader.

There's value in flogging
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM one of this country's old citizens who are grieved because of the level of crime and violence here.

What arrogance!
THE EDITOR, Sir: I NOTE with consternation, several letters expressing disappointment and disbelief that the electorate chose to give the PNP and Prime Minister Patterson a fourth consecutive term.

Congrats Jamaica
THE EDITOR, Sir: CONGRATULATIONS JAMAICA on choosing the government of your choice in a free and fair election. I am sure things will improve now that there is a balance in Parliament.

BBC radio welcomed in Jamaica
THE EDITOR, Sir: AS A regular listener to the BBC World Service on short wave radio for over forty years, I welcome the transmission of its programme locally on FM radio.

Internet: a non-event in Jamaica
THE EDITOR, Sir: AS THE Jamaican government peddles the illusion that society is in some way moving away from its Third World status citing such things as First World communications as justification.

Emancipation Park: it was well worth it
THE EDITOR, Sir: SUNDAY AFTERNOON - the holiday weekend. My children were bored, so I decided to take them and a friend to 'Putt 'n Play' which is located across from the new Emancipation Park.
