Domino Championship starts today

THE THREE-DAY World Championship of Dominoes, sponsored by Air Jamaica, gets under way today at the Renaissance Jamaica Grande Hotel in Ocho Rios with the opening ceremony at 11:00 a.m.

More than 300 teams from here and abroad will be vying for the impressive first prize of US$25,000 and other lucrative cash prizes over three exciting days of competition.

Registration gets under way at 8:30 this morning with play commencing at 1:00 p.m. Tomorrow the competition begins at 10:00 a.m. while play resumes as early as 7:45 a.m. on Saturday morning. The presentation ceremony is set for 9:00 p.m.

Associate sponsors are Sandals, Victoria Mutual Building Society, Ting, Island Car Rentals, Technology Plus and Grace Remittance Services.

Since its inception three years ago, the Championship has been won by Jamaican players. Already, hundreds of players have undergone intensive pre-tournament practice matches islandwide in an effort to report razor sharp for this the mother of all tournaments.
