Crooks and poor policing

THE EDITOR, Sir:

ABOUT A month ago my mother, my three children and I were at home in Gregory Park, when to our great horror and amazement we saw two young men who are noted for wrongdoings and frequent breaking of the law in our area in a fight.

One of the men ran for an illegal firearm and when he returned he was confronted by the other man with another illegal firearm.

Plenty onlookers were gathered from a distance watching to see the outcome. I was so shaken that I ran inside and called the police.

Shortly after the police arrived, but somehow or the other the men got the news that the police were coming and ran and hid the weapons.

I was further amazed when I saw the police officer laughing and talking with one of the men who was recently engaged in the wrongdoing. This may sound ironic but the incident happened before my very eyes.

When the police left the men began to curse and threaten what he is going to do to that b....c... woman. He said that the police told him that a woman called and told them at the station that he has a gun. Believe me, I no longer feel safe.

Plenty bad things are happening in the security force. How can we get rid of crime when those are very people who are supposed to help us fight crime?

The Crime Stop Operation could be a much better success if it were not for those dirty-minded policemen who want a fat paycheque at the end of the month.

I am, etc.,

"Worried and Amazed."
