Stop bashing Jamaica

THE EDITOR, SIR:

I want to first congratulate the Prime Minister and his party for their victory at the polls. To the JLP, I offer my praises for the improvement in their seat total in Parliament.

Now to both leaders and their members, the people have spoken, now it is time to move on to the most important business - building a better Jamaica.

Stop the political victimisation, stop the garrison politics, stop the bashing of Jamaica abroad when it does not go your way, because we cannot improve when we waste our energies bashing each other.

We are heartened at the PM's acceptance speech election night and I do take you at your word. As usual I implore you to have your representatives overseas spend more of their time seeking out people who are willing to contribute instead of been "social representatives". By this I mean attending functions only to profile.

To the newly-elected MP for my old area, North Trelawny, I want to see Falmouth get the attention it deserves. Good luck to all, and may this term for all, government and opposition be the turning point for the land of my birth.

I am etc,

PATRICK "Mr. Food" BECKFORD
