THE EDITOR, Sir:
In 1988 a team of four architectural/planning firms was retained by the Kingston Restoration Company (KRC) to prepare plans for the re-development of Downtown Kingston.
Phase one of the project, which includes tree lining King Street, fixing its sidewalks, adding lighting and the upgrading, lighting and landscaping of Justice Square, was carried out.
The plan provided for a series of small projects which together would transform Downtown Kingston.
The plan involved consultations with all the private and public sector entities and included land use plans and plans of the existing water, electricity, sewage and storm drainage system as they existed at that time.
The majority of the information is still relevant and in many cases only requires some minor updating. The team has made a copy of this plan available to the Parish Development Committee and would be happy to provide copies to any interested parties for the cost of the reproduction. There is a lot of information and the plan at the time was approved by everyone.
It may save time and money if the plan was considered as part of the new interest in the re-development of Downtown Kingston.
