THREE St. Jago High School past students, Mathematics Professor, Dr. Leighton Henry; Medical Doctor, Professor Augustus Grant and Shipping Specialist, David Yee Sing, are to be honoured at the annual awards banquet of the school's Past Students Association at the Hilton Kingston Hotel on November 2.
The awards function, under the theme "Excellence Our Past, Present, and Our Future", will recognise the three 'distinguished St. Jago past students' for their "sterling contributions in national and international life".
Guest speaker at the event will be Dr. Errol Daley, President of the Medical Association of Jamaica.
Dr. Lloyd Henry, is well known in academic circles as a mathematics lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Mona. A three-time scholarship winner, he studied at St. Jago, UWI, and the University of Manchester, England.
Professor Augustus Grant, 2003 President Elect of the American Heart Association, studied at St. Jago, and the Universities of Edinburgh, Scotland; California, San Francisco; and Manitoba, Winnipeg as well as the Hahnemann Medical College, Philadelphia. A former Jamaica scholar, he is a well-respected authority on cardiovascular diseases.
David Yee Sing has dedicated his life to a career in the shipping industry in Jamaica and the Caribbean and to a range of community activities. Currently Marketing Manager for the shipping agencies of Grace, Kennedy Maritime, he is chairman of the Caribbean Shipping Association's 'A Group' the organisation's largest group of shipping agents and private stevedores.
Dr. Henry, Professor Grant and Mr. Yee Sing, join an impressive list of St. Jago past students who have been honoured by the Past Students Association at previous awards banquets.
Previous honourees include Chief Justice Lensley Wolfe; Registrar General, Dr. Pat Holness; and Jennifer Samuda, co-owner of Jencare Skin Farm.
