THE REMAINING three semi-finalists in the Pepsi/Sports Plus daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition will be decided this afternoon after the playing of the final round of matches in the quarterfinal round.
With Old Harbour High already certain of a place after winning their first two games in Group Two and with former champions St. Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) already eliminated from contention, the other six teams are vying for the other places.
Both places from Group I are still up for grabs with Garvey Maceo, the only unbeaten team in the competition, taking on 1992 beaten finalists Titchfield High at Buff Bay, needing only a draw. In the other game, former many time champions Rusea's High have their backs against the wall as they must beat Munro to keep their hopes of an eighth title alive.
Garvey Maceo who will be led by the skilful national Under 17 midfielder Seon Givans and Jevaughn Watson while Leon Callaghan and Jeffrey Nichols will also bear some serious attention by the Titchfield defence.
Titchfield, whose only loss of the season came in the first game of this round when they were beaten by Munro, will rely heavily on Damion Harwood who scored twice in their 2-1 win over Rusea's on Wednesday with Derron Barnett and Ryan Dumay expected to feature in the attack as well.
Both goalkeepers, Sheldon Brown of Garvey Maceo and Dwayne Wilson of Titchfield could prove to be the key players for their teams this afternoon.
Munro College, beaten finalists in 2000 will have the territorial advantage over Rusea's, playing just a few miles from their Malvern base in Santa Cruz.
Both teams are coming off losses on Wednesday but the Neil Harrison coached Munro should be given the edge.
