Architects and sunken buildings

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THIS IS an appeal to architects to go easy on designs for sunken areas in buildings as these may cause people to fall and suffer injuries which are sometimes quite serious.

Because of the frequency with which sunken areas are encountered, especially in new buildings, the public might be excused for believing that architects are in league with bone surgeons and rheumatologists.

Accidents are frequent in buildings with sunken areas and as the population is ageing the problem will increase over time.

I am, etc.,

A. ROBERTS

Kingston 6
