BNS woos upscale clients

THE BANK of Nova Scotia (BNS) Jamaica has launched a private banking service for customers wishing to increase their net worth over time.

The services were introduced to a select group of company executives during the launch of a series of wealth building and wealth management seminars on the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) on Monday evening.

Bridget Lewis, director of Scotia Private Banking Services, said the launch of the new product was a first step towards assessing customers' financial situations and to help them define and quantify their financial goals, as well as their risk tolerance.

She said in her address to the executives that in order to assist those customers who wanted to take advantage of the new services, the bank's private banking arm would be hosting regular investment seminars at which participants will hear from international experts in business and finance.

General manager for Scotia Private Banking Services, Jacqueline Sharp, said that at the heart of its private banking services is a one-on-one attention from a customer's assigned manager.

Specifically designed for 'high end' customers, the bank says the assigned manager for its private banking services will assist with all the day-to-day banking, borrowing and investment needs of the individual, and will also offer expertise and advice that customers need to achieve their long-term goals.

Ms. Lewis said Scotiabank would also use its international influence to offer its clients access to a wide spectrum of expertise, including global markets.
